About the project

Fisheries and aquatic resources are foundational to First Nations’ communities, culture, well-being, identity, and way of life. We work to protect aquatic resources and habitat and help First Nations build a strong, coherent voice on Pacific fisheries and aquatic resources.

Together with marketing agency Plant a Flag we designed and developed a new website for the First Nations Fisheries Council. Their previous website was not easy to maintain and did not include the tools needed to support their goals.

We custom developed a new website built on a solid WordPress framework that allows the customer to easily update the content in-house. We created custom post types and custom filters so information is structured on both the frontend and backend of the website.

The events calendar that we integrated helps them with planning and organizing events, and show a history of past events. This process is automated; when an event has passed it will be moved to past events automatically.

We also helped with integrating smart contact forms, a newsletter subscription form, and various other tools / automations that will help the customer organize and maintain their content.

After we finalized website development we worked on the website loading time optimizations and achieved an A-score which stands for best result:
